Free Range Eggs now available at all Burger King Restaurants

Burger King has become the first quick service restaurant burger business to sell Free Range Eggs, nationally, from September 6th, 2016

The confirmation comes after an announcement earlier this year that the company was furthering its’ efforts in leading quick service restaurant practices on animal welfare.

John Hunter, CEO of Burger King New Zealand, says, "We are delighted to announce, in partnership with New Zealand’s leading egg producer, Zeagold, to be the first national burger chain to move to 100% Free Range Eggs New Zealand wide."

The move to free range eggs has been in planning for several months and BK restaurants have been progressively introducing them into its 83 New Zealand restaurants over the past month.

Hunter also explains "this latest move is further proof that the company is taking great strides in leading industry reforms in it’s’ approach to ethical sourcing, marketing to children and promoting active play."

This latest initiative from Burger King comes after the company announced the addition of milk to its Kids Meals at prices cheaper than soda options and its removal of plastic toys from its kid’s meals altogether, in March 2015.

Over the past 18 months Burger King the company has opened 6, 3x3 basketball courts at selected restaurant sites with a further 10 planned in the next 12 months. This continued investment back into local communities comes after the very successful launch of the Positive Sideline Behaviour program launched with the Wellington Rugby Football Union this past club rugby season.

In August 2014 Burger King became the first major burger restaurant chain in New Zealand to display the energy content of menu items on menu boards.

Customers will now be able to taste the difference of Free Range Eggs with a “2 for $5 Bacon & Egg Muffin deal” available until the end of September.
